Here at Glenvale Veterinary Clinic, we are proud to offer ECG diagnoses to the animals under our care.

What is an ECG?

ECG is a recording of the electrical activity in the heart as it contracts and relaxes. A normal heartbeat has a regular rhythm, with the top of the heart (the atrium) contract first, then the bottom part (the ventricle) beating afterwards.

When is a ECG used?

Most diseases causing the heart to fail do not require an ECG to be diagnosed. However, when the regular beating rhythm of the heart is lost, ECG can be used to help diagnose or identify the issue. Please not that no sedation is needed and your pet will not experience any pain during the procedure.
