PATHOLOGY

••••

Glenvale Veterinary Clinic is equipped with an in-house laboratory hat allows us to carry out a series of pathology procedures.

This means we can quickly diagnose any underlying conditions your pet may have by running the necessary tests promptly for your convenience.

Clinical pathology subsequently involves the detailed assessment of blood, fluids or body tissues to identify existing disease in the body.

Common laboratory tests include:

  • Blood chemistries
  • Complete blood counts
  • Blood clotting times
  • Urinalysis
  • Faecal tests
  • Biopsy examination
  • Cultures
  • Infectious disease testing

Timely testing for your peace of mind

Committed to providing a quality set of services to our patients at all times, at Glenvale Veterinary Clinic, we understand the benefit of prompt diagnoses, which is why we have our lab. As with all of our facilities and equipment, our laboratory is state-of-the-art and well maintained by our team, allowing us to perform tests onsite as we need to and provide results within minutes.

This is particularly important when dealing with very ill animals, as the sooner we can diagnose a problem, the sooner we can treat it. It’s also vital for pets that require immediate or emergency treatment.

If more specialised tests are required, then these may need to be performed by an external veterinary laboratory. It can take 12-24 hours for blood results or up to 14 days for biopsy results, depending on the nature of the test being performed.
